Kam Ko: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; Biography: Kam Ko

Kam Ko, a professional engineer, first learned welding at a power station in Hong Kong. In 1972, he came to Canada to further his education in welding. Kam graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Concordia University, and earned his Master of Applied Science degree from University of Toronto. Kam's professional work focused on welding research and development, in the areas of structure, automotive, oil and gas, manufacturing, as well as robotics.

Although Kam’s training was in engineering, he enjoys creating artworks. He was initially inspired to transform defective parts into sculptures while working on a project he wanted to memorialize. Over the years, his interest in creating metal sculptures continued, from small scale to life size, incorporating scraped metal and parts such as automotive components. Kam's metal sculptures made its debut in this past One of A Kind Christmas Show in Toronto.
